多年来，我很少写及母亲，或许因为母亲把人性看得太彻底，她也按照她的本来性情在为人处事，而这与我的家族文化传统形成某种关照，是我当时都还不能明了的。多年以后，我理解了母亲，母亲给了我观察人生另一面的能量和启蒙认识。
一两年以后，我们所在的村庄和土地，还有我们的家，即将被淹没。因为政府为了解决城里的饮水问题，将在这里修建水库，从长江引水而来。母亲说，她不愿意这里被淹没，哪怕给再多的钱，她还是热爱她的土地。在这里，山清水秀，粮食，蔬菜，她都可以自己种来吃，而不用买。
