Yeah just starting to come to terms with re starting some old goals.
Basically tring to see if i can still mix mud push a wheelbarrow and do an acceptable amount of laboring.
Ive done my first totally solo stone wall, and now the plan was to pick up a trowel and follow on my dads footsteps and learn to lay bricks.
We did a wall me and him , dug treeroots , trenchmesh , concrete truck footings , pallets of bricks all mud mixed by me by hand no mixer, fake samdstone on first 3 or 4 feet at base of wall then we bagged the wall and i had never baged before but mixed a lot of rendering mud and laboured for renderers and stone masons, but my old man just made a slurry mix by eye, and i was freaking out if it would crack. And i turned to hom and asked , dad am i doing it right ive never bagged before and he goes to me son niether have i.
So to cut a long story short this wall is in a fairly expensive suburb in sydney and when we cruised past on out way to other jobs around there the wall looked 100 times better than anything on the entire street , still to this day that wall me and dad built just us
I remeber more than anything we ever did together.
And i was so worryied about the bagging cracking , but seems it was perfect and the art teacher i think lady that comisioned the wall said " i love it dont even paint it,"
And i was so relieved , and thought to myself one day i would like to build a wall exactly like the one we did and im going to get a photo of that wall and post it here and continue with my bricklaying fantasy.
Maybe i can do it .
My trowel has gone rusty sitting in garage, but yes things have once again changed and now it is work on this house until it is finished to my standard and can share and try to get maybe 2 , 20 to thirty grand jobs a year. Nothing too fancy as i am only a laborer and not a tradesman .
But will find out sooner or later if i can handle a days work let alone a weeks work .
And will try to get a photo of this wall ,
But its way too expensove to do it like we did, Very difficult to find people that are willing to fork over that amount of cash , and in canberra would you believe, a no front fence policy does exist by law ,i shit you not.
