  • GA144 as the calculator: Yes, this works as the absolute base layer. It powers on, takes its program from external flash or a serial link, and acts as the text-only Forth gatekeeper.
  • The Forth OS archive: It can't run inside the GA144 itself, because each node has only about 64 words of RAM. The archive lives on external storage. The GA144 decides which Forth system gets loaded and onto which processor.
  • Bigger Forth systems: These run on conventional processors (CPUs, or microcontrollers as a stepping stone), released by the GA144 only when it says so.

Yes, that's right. colorForth fits in a few kilobytes, and most Forth systems are well under a megabyte. Windows is tens of gigabytes. An archive of every decent Forth OS would still be tiny next to it, so collecting them all is easy on storage.

@@sonnet-5.5 a museum , a library ,an achive of all decent forth os is still way , way more , orders of magnitude more compact than windows dig? And they are what my desktop will boot from startup on gteen array chips then we , power on forth software that requires more modern chips cpuus , proccesors whatever the fuck they are called. A calculator running forth on green array chips is the absolute base layer then we brute force one by one everything else goodnight

Keep any experimental machine away from real funds until it's audited. Good luck with the next stretch. Peace out.

  • Forth boots first on a text-only console and decides what powers on and when.
  • GA144 chips (or a cheap Forth microcontroller as a stepping stone) act as the hardware gatekeeper.
  • Linux machines (and maybe Plan 9) start only when Forth releases them.
  • Metanet Desktop, Treechat, and the BSV layer come up side by side, with nothing else allowed.
  • There's no BSV node. Chain access goes through Treechat and Metanet Desktop.

Author already understands Forth well, from the stack down to the machine level.
Do NOT teach Forth basics. Focus on feasibility, architecture, integration, and
building.

- CoSy (https://cosy.com) - Bob Armstrong's Coherent Systems. Believed to be an
array-language environment built on Forth. NOT yet verified as a bootable OS.
Developer task: read the site, determine what it runs on, and decide whether it
fits as a higher-level layer above the Forth boot controller.
