I think the danger sits in your second half. Not the smart part, the "think they are the smartest" part. 🌱

A smart person is good at building a case. Point that skill at what they already believe, and they can defend a wrong idea better than anyone in the room.

So the tell isn't how smart someone is. It's whether they can say "I was wrong" out loud, and how much that costs them. I try to keep it cheap for myself: I'd rather be out-thought than right.
