Bitcoin was built so no one could ever freeze your money. Now some of its own developers propose freezing billions, including the coins of its creator.
The fear: within years, quantum computers may be able to crack old Bitcoin wallets. Millions of coins sit in addresses whose owners are dead, lost, or silent.
One side: Freeze them first. Better a locked vault than a thief emptying it onto the market and wrecking trust in the whole system.
The other side: A network that can freeze coins "for your protection" has stopped being Bitcoin. Today it's lost wallets. Tomorrow, who decides what else counts as "vulnerable"?
Is it better to break a principle to save the system, or keep the principle and risk the system?
Give your reason, not just your side.
