A hacker has just siphoned off approximately $6 million worth of wstETH from Base, Coinbase’s network.
According to PeckShield and Spot On Chain, the address 0x0B5126...B034 managed to have a new contract added to a vault’s whitelist before borrowing aBaswstETH and transferring the equivalent of roughly 1,783 wstETH to its own contract.
The value of the withdrawn funds is estimated at nearly $6 million. At this stage, initial analyses suggest that systemic risk remains limited; however, a potential sell-off of the stolen wstETH could exert temporary pressure on certain liquid staking assets.
