Computers in the 1960s often had 6 bits per character, enough for 64 characters but upper and lower case letters plus 10 digits require 62, and when you add a space (blank) character plus the null (0) character you’re now up to the maximum and haven’t yet been able to express any special characters like + or - or punctuation like period or question-mark so in practice a 6-bit character set has to be limited to upper case only. SO, TYPING IN CAPITAL MAKES RETRO FEED MORE RETRO. ARRRRRRR
