The value of pow.co is acquired today rather than in the future.

I don't agree with this. BTC will dump handling all the data transactions and not implode.

Trust the people who choose not to partake in this. They live by superior ethics.

Useless brc-20 coin craze will die just like erc-20 coin craze died, only much faster since a) everybody is expecting it, b) they’ve blown off any guise of creating value
Similar to eth, ft craze was coupled with an nft craze , which again is mostly rooted in pyramids and flipping. It too will fade out quickly on Ordinals as it did on eth, again 1) every body has already lived this outcome on eth and other chains and 2) the pretense of delivering value has been abandoned.
The craze is driven by the common understanding that BTC has the best network effect and folks repeatedly applying the one maxim: be among the first, just be early.
Even people you “know” and like in the community when you watch them online won’t hesitate to dump on you if you are late.
Some people have inscribed project tokens that offer value/utility in BTC. However these are also danagerous as 1) some of these are still priced as pyramids and 2) the high fee BTC system will damage any long term value building as a heavy tax would do.

porque no los dos?

that means: why not both?

short and long term - one does not necessarily subsume the other, nor are these mutually exclusive viewpoints.

porque no los dos?

"sign with paymail" currently no longer displays the paymail of the poster on created posts.

the new difficulty total and rank need some kind of visual separation from the box where the post/link is shared on the powco homepage. The new information is cool, but it makes the home page look busy and I find the version prior without this information to be preferable.

What's the Deal with Ordinal Profits

To those of you that have made a boatload of money on ordinals, well done, I am happy for you!

If you are thinking: "Why didn't we see this coming?–Powco is supposed to help us get better information!", I will attempt to share some considerations herein that I hope will shed some light on your question.

PowCo skews towards long-run thinking. When I was trying to understand the value in PowCo (a difficult proposition generally), it didn't make sense to me until I understood that it only works well in the long-run.

As others have shared and boosted, Ordinals/BRC-20 tokens, while proven short-term money making opportunities, appear to lack any real inherent value, unlike for example, a pencil or a biscuit, which have obvious value.

If you use PowCo, you probably understand the value of long-run thinking. In terms of maximizing profits, accurate long-run thinking is extremely valuable, and outperforms accurate short-term thinking.

If you have been investing in BSV and stayed invested without worrying about missing out on the BTC price gains, you already understand this concept.

I see opportunities like this on a regular basis, but they generally don't interest me because I know I will maximize profits in the long-run if I focus on a longer time horizon.

That's not to say that if I saw a short-term profit opportunity for which the opportunity cost was insignificant and the risk was low, that I wouldn't take it. I do make the occasional short-term trade with that goal in mind, but only on the rare instance that it meets the aforementioned qualifications.

However, I would guess that in order to make a steady living from trading short-term trends, the time commitment would be all consuming and come at the cost of long-run profits.

I think most PowCo users inherently understand this to be true, and so we often miss out on short-term positive expected value gambles.

But, we have faith that the future will be bright and as a result, we are planning and building for a bright future with great profits for those who create great value.

I don’t really understand why I’m tagged here. Anyway I’ll say this: It’s been almost 1 year I spend my free days and night building powco/askbitcoin and other things and I have earned ~4BSV for all my efforts. I’ve faded ordinals at the start because I listened to the costly signals here that told me it’s a fad, a scam etc.
These days I have nothing else to do than to listen to jek’s twitter spaces and I finally decided to listen and buy ordi on relay at $5 it’s now at $20 after 2 days.
Have you ever considered that by only listening to costly signals of a handful of people (the 6 users of powco) one can be blindfolded and lose opportunities because the size of the network is just too small to be actually intelligent.

The Opportunity Cost of Trading Ordinals:

Oops you forgot to build anything useful.

People Posting Their Ordinal Gainz Are Trying To Scam You Into Buying Their Worthless Bags

When trading non-scare digital objects there is necessarily someone who loses, the bag-holder.

The nature of such game is that someone loses and no value is created for them. It is a zero sum game rather than an infinite game.

When you buy a galon of gasoline or macbook pro you are getting a real service that does not need to be sold at a higher price in order to be useful.

Many may echo the justifications for pump and dump schemes, i.e. it advancsd the technology, etc. However to do so is to be complicit in a definite scam.

By not recognizing the game for what it is you are perpetuating the scam and ultimately will either lose you money or profit off of someone less capable than you, at their expense.
