Flat Earth Research
I did some flat-earth research in response to content that appeared on pow.co.
The most important thing I learned is that the formula that flat earthers use to calculate the expected distance below the horizon that something would be at a certain distance from the viewer is incorrect as explained in this video. The flat-earther t doesn't take into account the height of the viewer or the true direction that the viewer is looking (which would be slightly down for someone higher than the surface of the earth.)
There is a website called [Advanced Earth Curvature Calculator] (http://walter.bislins.ch/bloge/index.asp?page=Advanced+Earth+Curvature+Calculator) that can be used to generate images of objects on spheres from a distance, with refraction taken into account and everything.
This fact alone deals with most of the arguments of flat-earthers because the first argument that flat-earthers use is to look at how things appear at great distances which they think ought to be below the horizon.

Personal Interests
[Update from the wiki entry]
The Personal Interest token is a scrypt smart contract that is detected by powco and indexed to present an up-to-date API of a user's interests. Then powco shall build customized feeds based on each end user's interests. By connecting their sensilet wallet a user may collect their interests in their account simply by clicking Add Interest or Remove Interest. Each PersonalInterest object has an owner (the address of the user's sensilet wallet), a topic similar to a boostpow topic, and a weight which may be an integer indicating the relative strength you assign to that one interest. The PersonalInterest shall be deletable by calling a terminate or liquidate function as the owner to reclaim the satoshis.
Rather than indicating one's preference using a simple number the user should also be able to add any number of satoshis to indicate the relative strength of each Personal Interest against the others.
Boosting Your Personal Interest
Interest objects are stateful, meaning they can potentially be changed or destroyed. While the latest state of the Personal Interest, its location, may be tracked by an index, boosting a Personal Interest should use the origin outpoint so that all boost for the lifetime of that Personal Interest may be easily aggregated.
By first building the mechanism to discover and parse a new Personal Interest, the schema for the database and the API may also be developed.
