Profana autem et vaniloquia devita : multum enim proficiunt ad impietatem :

Sollicite cura teipsum probabilem exhibere Deo, operarium inconfusibilem, recte tractantem verbum veritatis.

(for that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his' righteous soul from day to day with their' lawless deeds):

Hæc commone, testificans coram Domino. Noli contendere verbis : ad nihil enim utile est, nisi ad subversionem audientium.

Wherein you shalt greatly rejoice, if now you must be for a little time made sorrowful in divers temptations:

and delivered righteous Lot, sore distressed by the lascivious life of the wicked

si non credimus, ille fidelis permanet, negare seipsum non potest.

and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, having made them an example unto those that should live ungodly;

Who, by the power of God, are kept by faith unto salvation, ready to be revealed in the last time.

and spared not the ancient world, but preserved Noah with seven others, a preacher of righteousness, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly;

in quo laboro usque ad vincula, quasi male operans : sed verbum Dei non est alligatum.
