Crazy that around the start of the year I mocked Solana's weak incentives to process timely transactions.

Around that time the "brain trust" had to make bsv fees the focus of how to out-compete with solana ( wrong point of focus) and pitch "BSV over IPv6" ( again, sales pitch not economics ) and just rely on prayer if they shifted hash to BTC leaving subsidy profit on bsv that it could lure a new node.

Flexible thinkers that are good at business realize when they made a poir decision and fix it.

all the errors are clearer to me now.

They brought in a IoT guy in to run Taal. I was always skeptical of that as his core frame of reference. The use cases are an unproven ambition.

All this recent fallout is compatible with that

In prior decades I put a lot of energy following a really good tech where the leadership aimed solely for the "brass ring". Eventually they failed. But it never had to be a failUte. It failed due to ego and ambition

Realities must be accepted. You live with them. The world will not forget that weeks passed where nobody was processing transactions on BSV except Taal.

When you had a problem of "Nobody", the idea of "Anybody" is forever irrelevant

Funny that We ended up with solana's problem

The cost of a month's worth of transaction is a fixed cost that derives from costs of running a full node.

The cost per transaction is just dividing out the number and size of transactions for the month .

Maybe an analysis would grant one or two months leeway of forward projection. But not imaginary 3 year 100x growth

Its not economically sound to do

"IF we are running x TPS, then the cost per TX is Y, so the fee SHOULD be Z"

where x is a number you pulled out of your rear . That's ego getting in the way . That a sales pitch . That's not operations.

A miner evaluating BSV has a direct estimate of how many blocks they can expect win in a month based on how much hash is directed toward the network. If they can't clear the fixed costs I just described including the hassle of time, effort and risk then clear an extra 15% or so beyond that , they will not reallocate resources .

CSW said it himself . If you don't like the fee ( revenue ) , don't mine

However, economics are dictating the fee is too low for differentiation and allocation of resources- given that the reality that other networks exist

Today BSV is a "single major public miner" network which can only succeed 'by accident' of success of a current user bc ***no new customer is going to commit to disintermediated transactional network that is disintermediated by a single party

I don't say this lightly or gleefully , having been around here for years. The next 4 months are Do or Die for BSV as an economic system. Failing that, it would be resigned to being an IP-oriented PoC venture.

only Taal and BA , and the very small number of people involved in advising them , can fix this.

The economic motivations must be there.

They, Taal and BA, have jointly undermined the economics ( excuse the pun ) due to their ideology of applying "should" instead of following the rationales dictated by economic systems analysis

Anyone can mine without filling a form, or asking a permission, or sending a notification.

people might think of the empty block miner rather as a spurned miner. I don't know if that's true or not.

here is what I think is less arguable -

The problem of a single honest node in top 98% of hash, and only 2 others in the bottom 2% , took a Year in the making.

Fee revenue was supposed to be economic means to hook new miners.

Taal and BA, and the idealogs directing them, have made a strategic error

Question is how they will solve it, now that they seem to have demonstrate it won't be by becoming pragmatic .

BSV is a grand experiment. I get annoyed seeing the execution and strategy get messed up.

Working in a big update, to integrate JungleBus and BitChat natively. will include the fee correction in that update.
