now that i reread it, it loops infinitely if the responses from blockpost aren't as expected, so uh, put that inside a timeout if you use it as a part of a larger script, i guess, or tweak it to be a bit less credulous :)

Key · blockpost.network

if my script works then there have been 34 posts in the past 24 hours

Key · blockpost.network

that one didn't increase it, ugh do i have to look more carefully at what it's doing :)

oh yeah most of the twetch posts aren't really posted to the chain at all anymore that's why

Key · blockpost.network

hm saying that made it go to 36?? that doesn't seem right lol :)

Key · blockpost.network

37, sounds good .......... i forgot to filter out the twetch posts though .............. uh hey, have there really only been two dozen posts on twetch today, wtf twetch

in general i don't mind being the first to try something, i'm doing that right now here, but, uh, this is an open protocol,,, it's different if i'm being the first to throw pennies at john pitts, lol

yes i 100% agree we need to find new users, really even the pool of people who can sign in with uh what's supported here is it handcash and relayx, that's not a big enough pool either

what i've been planning to do is

  • first temporarily, and occasionally for fun, but it doesn't work as a long-term solution: provide entirely free gateways, where there's just a url you can go to and you're able to say something to the chain--- what i thought of writing was something that puts an advertisement footer, something saying "FREE POST SPONSORED BY MUNGOJELLY'S MAPLE CLUB" or whatever, which could maybe lead to that software being run more often by people wanting to sponsor some free posts to make it seem reasonable they're posting the same message here over & over hundreds of times 😉

  • then more long-term what i'd like to make is gateways where you need a particular NFT to speak through them, which even if you give out the NFTs for free should make them way less spammed so they can stay longer, and if there's some value relationship w/ the NFT it could work out so it's actually sustainable, that's still quite a bit of a funnel to get people to sign up for a relayx even for free and then receive an NFT and then go to a different place to talk, that's hard enough, if we put payment in exotic things no one has in the funnel it's just murder, there's no fucking way

thanks that's the common things we hear

Of the few personalities who have tried, most have not gone beyond tinkering. it doesn't help that twetch is where many on-board to, IMO, since they are left confused by the costs and hierarchy culture.

i wish more people realized that we all need an a neutral disintermediated transactional platform with also attested trustworthy origin of data.

With wide adoption, BSV can help solve deep fakery better than any other tech in existence. Fake video has implications in media and politics so maybe the podcast goes there someday.

Yeah swiping moneybutton to look up a word when bsv has so few users is a tough way to bootstrap . bit it's fun to tinker with for an hour or two

i don't follow anyone but i'd follow @Siggi before most people--- vociferously turning down leadership is an important qualification, double extra never trust leaders with motives 🤣

no but we really need to take that burden/heat off of Siggi as soon as possible, we need a second gateway,,,, i might volunteer?? i'd love to if i can--- can you estimate the monthly expense at the moment??

yeah what i really think is that tips don't work at all and should be discouraged

which but that's too bad b/c people really want them??? they're super fun,,, sad

i don't think we should give tips i think we should "sell" doing fun little things!!! like if someone seems cool then you should pay them to put their shoe on their head (classic example, think of something new really) which is a call-and-response identity verification but also fun! if it weren't a FUN identity check then it wouldn't work out, it'd be too much overhead, but as long as you keep it fun, it works

the paying prize entries for retweets thing is ....... i mean you can see how it works for everyone, people are getting paid 0000000000000000 sats for their tweets so they're like, ok, this contest entry is MAYBE rigged and there's an unlimited number of entries so the value goes down down down down multiply by the chance of rigging and-- you know what????? STILL MORE THAN ZERO, BAM, RETWEET BUTTON PRESSED, profit maximized

and the person who's giving out the prize entries in exchange for retweets they know they have them in that position so for them it's a cheap as fuuuuuuuuuck way to buy a bunch of retweets, you just pay them that you make some sort of list and do some random thing and give someone the thing, and if you bother to do it kinda fair then you can feel like hey, i didn't even rig it, lucky you

i didn't know that about the twetch numbers, that makes sense, that explains why their apparent retention rate is EVEN WORSE than i would have guessed
