Drops of knowledge

Energy efficiency. BSV is working towards a vision of optimization for efficiency, so even though it uses a PoW (Proof-of-Work) consensus protocol, it is a scalable solution in terms of energy efficiency. With a fraction of the energy used by other protocols like BTC or ETH, BSV can do many more tps as well as an array of other functions that others could never do. Energy efficiency is not about how much energy is used but what it done with the energy

the whatsonchain api gives me "raw" output for the data of a tx output-- in ascii of the hex of the bytes? that doesn't seem raw? is that the rawest you can get over http or something , i don't get it ?

oh you can do that?? i didn't see that option yet .. you have to like give it the txid of what you're replying to or something?? how does that work? :)

Just posted a fix. If you update you can now use it as expected from the command line.

when i read the code it made sense to me that it looped, but i imagined it must have done something else on your system, but i couldn't imagine how that could be :)

😩 the loop was added later. It actually shouldn't loop when you call it like that from the conman line

i have absolutely no idea b/c the market is just nonsense to me, to me the ultimate peak value in just a decade or two if it succeeds is $10,000,000ish, so then it's that times chances of success, which are kinda low really?? but uh $100 is 0.0001% chance of success, which why are you buying at any price if that's your odds, i'd say like 20% so i'd say a fair price is $2,000,000 which is such worlds away from the market that i don't know how to think about it

that did indeed make linebreaks

what i did was to say like bsocial-cli -p mungojelly -m $'does this\n\nmake line breaks' which it does

if (fsMessage) { await post(profile, fsMessage.trim()); }

so it does, and then that's inside a while(1) so it does repeatedly, it doesn't clear the message or anything, so, repeatedly posts message, should exit or clear the message before the next loop

Key · blockpost.network

oh the cow posted perfectly but then it posted over and over in a loop

idk why

i just said "cowsay does this make a mess | bsocial-cli -p mungojelly"

i was just reading about the D protocol which i think is what you mean, not an easy name to google :/ very bad name :/ but an ok protocol as far as i know but i can't find any implementations where you can upload to it??? let me know if you find any

i've only been looking into it b/c it's something that interests people ... to me it's very uninteresting, it's more like the web is now .... you'd have less 404 but you'd still have hacking, cheating, accidentally messing things up, it's basically the same mess we're in now but fancier :)

i'm comfortable w/ it just being absolute history when things are posted

things can immediately be copied and mirrored if they're posted for any length of time, you can't actually post w/o risk of permanence, so let's just accept that strange gift we've been given of digital persistence, i'd say, let's go all the way down the rabbit hole and feel what it's like to not forget

One problem here is that to "edit" a file it needs to be replaced which generates a new txid. In turn, every file that links to it would need to be updated. I think this is what one of the protocols (b:?) solves but that does require a service monitoring the chain to resolve the references.

The only time we hear about the gateway is when it's bad.
