But it's not the same, because the technology allows it. All you have to do is overcome your fear of a reality that already exists. Let's say there is no way to court order a movement of coins. They can still freeze your bank accounts. They can get miners to blacklist your coins. And tell me what is the value proposition of an asset that needs to exchanged for Fiat if not endorsed by the state?
The state is always a problem. I'm not in favor of changing bitcoin to preemptively bend over to it.
Okay. If it's already been spent and sent to a thousand outputs it's tatties So how does this work at scale? I'm all for under the mattress storage but is a hard sell
I'm not sure I'm following, but I think the thing people forget in this context is insurance.
So we have normal theft procedures (be it by gov or privately), flagged coins and insurance.
Maybe before changing Bitcoin we could wait and see if this isn't enough.
Instead of handing everything over to the state...
Do you own property? Do you have US bank accounts? Brokerage accounts? In theory any of these things can be confiscated from you at any time? Is this a legitimate concern for you?
Eventually Bitcoin should represent all property/data ownership. Or this would have ended up a failed experiment. Sorry, you lost the deed to your house because it was a 1sat protocol taken in the hacking you experienced.
I think we are talking past each other.
