Yes please go on I'm fascinated! :)

Haha, I could talk about plants forever! I think a plant/gardening-focused twetch (e.g. subcategories: indoor plants, permaculture, homesteading, food preservation) could be quite useful and awesome. 🌱🌷🌻

On-chain Permies, the true Farmer's Almanac!
Reporting in from Zone 4B, your tomato seedlings look very healthy :) We didn't have great luck hardening ours off this year. Trying to shift to more edible perennials.
8b here - usually tomatoes get planted out May long weekend to beginning of June. This weekend's forecast is rain so will wait a bit longer. I'm pondering non-hideous ways to protect them from the rain (unfortunately, no space for a greenhouse).
4B checking in. And referencing Permies. You may be in MT? Permaculture Almanac on chain is great.
Northern MI - close only in acronym!
Both a bounty of natural beauty, though.
Permaculture is such a great concept vs monoculture, but must recognize that it is also less efficient. For better or worse... that depends on the lens through which one looks.
True! I don't see the world being fed without efficiency in production. A few radishes in your home garden or a quaint permaculture farm is very different from mass production like this: https://youtu.be/UyhHOpWdmkA
YouTube Radish Harvester Machine Radishes harvested from an image in the Netherlands. Radishes are harvested by machine. It is packaged in 20 pieces. Pretty fast. ... ... ....
At least not the world as it is today, no. As automation and overall intelligence increases, will the world as it is today adapt accordingly?
It seems rational to conclude it probably will. But who knows.
Ick.
Well, it's a good thing I'm an artist and not a farmer.
Thank goodness for the farmers. They are having a tough go of things lately. :(
But forget about that... what I love about permaculture is the idea of automation in food production that is entirely organic. Working with nature instead of against or in spite of nature just resonates so satisfactorily.
Permaculture can bear tremendous yields!
You're just not going to be eating staple annual crops and supply chains would be significantly shorter by necessity.
Bonsai has taught me a lot. It gives me a sense of permanence that few hobbies are able to do. Even if I never have children I plan to pass my trees down to those willing to learn the art. Legacy is not blood; rather the sum of our actions.
