30 min film would apparently cost about $3-4K at the moment to get onchain. Not involved with tech side of the things, so no idea how far away we are from an affordable on chain option.

Yep, crazy. Vimeo you get 90% though you do have to pay a yearly fee of about $200 for them to host. Obviously there is much less foot fall on Vimeo.

That's an interesting decision to have to make. I suppose it's a solid decision if you plan to release several projects a year. Footfall is an important point. But then it could also be argued that you are more likely to be lost in the noise on Amazon.
