Rather interesting thought! I love the idea of another realm, be it 'spiritual', or perhaps 'DMT-based' is the 'real' reality.

What if consciousness can be turned off and on here, and that prevents anything conscious from extreme suffering (Either by removing the consciousness from the body entirely forever, leaving an unconscious "husk" behind, or simply removing it during the suffering and then re-inserting it afterwards, leaving only the memory, if that was bearable for the experiencer)
