There's so many opportunities for spin offs though, it's such an uphill battle when the originals are masterpieces

Those movies suck compared to the books. 2-3 hour movie to tell a 50 hour book story isn’t enough time.
This series will have much more leeway to take its time and not rush.
It will have the dark tone of the final 3 books from the beginning and won’t need to have the playful hollywood kid’s movie tropes like the first two films did.
John Lithgow will be the definitive Dumbledore and these kids will be even better than the kids from the movies, who were almost all terrible actors who became decent through repetition.

new dumbledore looks mid af and the effects seemed better in the movies but maybe im too nostalgic
I’d wait until the show comes out. VFX are notoriously the last thing finished and most trailers for movies I have worked on have shipped with temporary effects.
HBO doesn’t fuck around and I’d even bet that this version will eventually make you forget about the movies all together. Watch.
