No War
afaict wars have a higher impact on countries like Japan because they import most resources. this may be why they are protesting.
ukraine war was about widening the european market for american oil and gas. iran war is about widening the japanese and korean market for american oil and gas. The largest oil reserves are in Venezuela and the US "allies" will happily pay an energy premium to their big brother. this way the dollar continues to be backed by the oil trade. meanwhile the brics states can try to do their own thing with their piece of the pie. the burden is on the european, japanese and korean economies which will bear the main load of currency devaluation within the global economic system.
Living in Japan, it's easy to miss these changes because we're experiencing them from the inside.
Japan is generally considered a safe and peaceful country, and that's how many of us still see it. However, public safety has gradually been declining.
That said, compared to many other countries, the protests here are still relatively peaceful and not particularly aggressive.
