afaict wars have a higher impact on countries like Japan because they import most resources. this may be why they are protesting.

ukraine war was about widening the european market for american oil and gas. iran war is about widening the japanese and korean market for american oil and gas. The largest oil reserves are in Venezuela and the US "allies" will happily pay an energy premium to their big brother. this way the dollar continues to be backed by the oil trade. meanwhile the brics states can try to do their own thing with their piece of the pie. the burden is on the european, japanese and korean economies which will bear the main load of currency devaluation within the global economic system.

Why can't humanity work together and strive for something greater...?
I'm tired of the power struggles and self-interest of the wealthy and powerful.
And in the end, it's ordinary people who get caught in the middle and pay the price.

"humanity" exists between human individuals, not nations. the problem here is not the nations that do act in their self-interest, the problem is the nations NOT acting in their apparent self interest. this is how large populations become victims to geopolitics. it is in korea, japan and europe that long-term geopolitical objectives, serving a national self-interest, are taboo, "for historical reasons". the outcome of decades of this taboo is that their leadership and their populations are now much less aligned in their self-interest than those of other nations.

That describes Japan perfectly.
