Getting in a debate this morning with a buddy who thinks NFT's are retarded and worthless and just ponzi schemes.

Says they have "no intrinsic value" and can "just be copied by anyone" and that proof of ownership is irrelevant because it's not a physical item. Doesn't seem to care that anyone can copy the mona lisa as well.

Not sure how to get through to him that just because he thinks it's dumb and doesn't assign value to digital ownership of art, doesn't mean everyone does.

Sure most NFT's will go to 0, but not all of them will, and their value isn't entirely determined by people who think they are stupid.

I agree with your friend. Unless the nft grants you access to something unique, like an in game item, it's grift

I disagree, art is art. Doesn't matter to me whether it's on a digital canvas or a physical one.

@127 doesn't seem to feel grifted and in fact seems to enjoy collecting NFT's without being sure if he'll profit or lose on them in the end. There's of people like that out there. These things have value to people.

Retardation is prevalent in the space. It's not a very good supportive argument. But if you feel this way buy some more and hope for them to appreciate. And if they don't at least you can look at them on your phone when you need a pick me up

Every sale of an nft should lock a portion of the sale in locked up bsv within the nft. This would mean they all have potential value as long as the chain survives. I posted an example of btc art that contained small amounts of btc many years ago. What cost 40 to 50 dollars became worth hundreds even thousands. These were physical prints of artwork. Would work better with nfts.

Working as as an example 10 percent of mint price locked bsv, then someone sells after mint 10 percent of that sale price and so on. If it flips 3 or 4 times u have this bsv in there. Then bsv goes up value goes up etc.

This is like a cool add-on you could do but it doesn't really speak to "Do digital items with provenance have intrinsic value simply as art etc"

I also have an idea to do fractional gold and locked bsv with nfts. But it's more complicated and would require mailing a physical item to owners. Sorta like twetch comfies/ hats.

This is a 1/100th ounce of gold I'm currency called a Utah goldback. It's gold plated. They even have 1/1000th notes. So say for example we have an NFT that sells for 100 dollar mint price. You got a non redeemed gold certificate and qp percent of each sale from mint on forward in locked bsv. That is a triple investment and guarantees some residual value with speculative value. What ya think?

Also this idea from Larry is interesting. Small royalty for whoever mints

Ah y también agregaría otro pequeño porcentaje de royalty para el que acuñó y el activo se logre revender (cada vez que ocurra).

How does he feel about trading cards of any kind, sports or pokemon for examples? There's no doubt these nfts could become physical, but it's not necessary in this digital environment with global access, especially for collections with relatively small numbers.

He seems to think they're fine because they're physical items. It seems to be a disconnect for him with regards to digital ownership, he doesn't seem to believe in digital ownership.

Some people don't get it. Whoever owns the priceless piece of art doesn't care that common folk have their little copies for enjoyment. Even so, they're probably good advertising for the original.
