It is disturbing that government would need to know about every stick of gum, coffee or roll of toilet paper one would buy. I was raised under the impression that I have the right to be secure in my "persons, houses, papers, and effects." -made up crimes-

I think there's a distinction to be made between privacy and anonymity. Some may conflate the two.
