I read a book on a similar topic a year ago.
It was called "Die Buteyko Methode by Ralph Skuban". If you want to do some research on it, just search for "buteyko method".
English version exists as well but has nearly no reviews on amazon.
The essence of the book is, that CO2 isn't that bad for the human system and that it can enhance the overall O2 amount in the body. Can't remember how it worked, though.
In the book humming is described as well, and the increase in Nitric Oxide. At the time I also thought about the meditation Mantras like Ommm, Namm, Ramm,… and so on. All end up in some form of humming.
Have never thought about humming while breathing inwards. I tried and it doesn't sound just broken, it sounds absolutely awkward :-D.
However, I will try it for some time, maybe it has some effects.
Congratulations on that "circular breathing", tried some time, but it never made click.
However, since I have read the book I am less fixated on Wim Hof Oxygen breathing but also in enhancing CO2 levels for short periods of time. Holding my breath as long as I can, then regenerating for five minutes with deep and fast breathing and then all over again.
When being done for over 40 minutes the body is flushed with oxygen. At least it felt like I have taken "Niacin".
Holding your breath can be done while walking or in many other circumstances. I highly recommend doing it at least once per day.
Also exhaling completely and then holding your breath for at least 20-40 seconds was described in the book.
Overall I think that "holding your breath" simulates "stress" similar to ice baths, meditation or sport, and that several systems in the human body see that as a stimulus to grow.
Any recommendations on "circular breathing".
Is snoring to try maximise what the oxygen is capable of in your system?
