Deeply disagree with this. You don't have to approach writing from the standpoint of "my thoughts are so important."

Writing and communication is one of the greatest art forms in existence. When properly utilized, they can invoke great emotion in the reader from peace and happiness to anger and hatred.

Writing is also an extremely cathartic exercise.

I'm just saying, it's very materialistic to want to permanently inscribe your thoughts on a blockchain. I don't think that's debatable.

I think the permanent aspect of it is his attempted argument.

Sure. However, @6345 has stated numerous times that the reason he posts here is because it's immutable/permanent.

How is that not materialistic?

An anti-materialist shouldn't care whether his ideas are stored immutably (protecting the ideas) and seen by others, or pissed into the wind and only experienced by himself.

Permanence isn't inherently materialistic

knowing that something will last longer on chain than anywhere else is just a nice feature, it doesn't mean you are attached to every word you write or that you think it's important – that's a perspective thing.

If I want my ideas to be seen by future generations for any reason, after I die - that's materialistic.

I do, so I'm somewhat materialist.

I don't think it's a bad thing to be somewhat materialistic. We have no guarantees that materialism isn't a good thing in some regards.

I think publishing - no matter where, no matter if a single soul reads it - is essentially broadcasting to everyone tuned into the same frequency as you.

And I don't even think the few important thoughts humans have are their own. They are already in that frequency.

It's like finding seashells and telling people we made them.

All you can claim as your achievement is formulating these thoughts in a better way.

Why immutable instead of on a platform where you don't know if they'll change or delete it?

Why not?

exactly

Yes, so you're attached to your ideas being preserved, not lost. You are seeking to protect your ideas.

That is materialistic.

words are the timeline of events, thoughts and pressure coming together into sentences with a timestamp, like a path of breadcrumbs, like a blockchain; once seen, once its power of always being available is grasped, more will see the dots connecting backwards and can follow the potential dots into the future; they'll fight for this truth over any other with the breaths they have left.

power is in the irrevocable words in time.

same. immutably recording written history, thoughts and ideas is certainly a good thing for both present and future society
