DuckType
DuckType is an app for macOS and Windows (and soon mobile) that combines dictation and meeting transcription. It’s privacy-focused and not VC-backed, and 4x+ cheaper than alternatives like Wispr Flow, Willow and Granola, and designed to be genuinely user-friendly, not just a wrapper around a speech API. For people who want fast, accurate dictation without compromising on privacy.
I built it after developing RSI from typing too much. Less than two months later I had median nerve surgery, which made accurate fast typing harder, so the app became even more essential to me personally. I now use it daily, including to write prompts for Claude Code and to message people.
DuckType DuckType. Type up to 4x faster with your voice. Dictate into any app. Record meetings and get automatic summaries. No screenshots. No document scraping. Works offline. What the chain says
