Yes, the presidency has changed a lot since original founding, unfortunately we have continually shredded elements of our republic in favor of democracy.
Whereas a land/religion requirement is akin to proof of work. You have to have put in the time and effort to acquire the requisite knowledge to actually hold and own property. Or achieve a certain status (morally) in the community.
I find the property requirement uniquely interesting in the context of proof of stake VS proof of work systems. One man, one vote, is essentially proof of stake. I run a node, I'm important. I have a right to vote, I'm important and my views are too.
When you say majority, do you mean general populace, or leaders? What if the voting system was akin to pre-universal suffrage? Something akin to landowner/morality requirements that used to exist. Would that change your assumptions?
