People that own a Tesla recharge it on the power grid that runs on coal. It's just a matter of where the combustion is made, that's all. Behind your ass with petrol, or miles away in a coal power plant.
I have lived on solar for 14 years now. The setup you would need to recharge a Tesla is huge and very very expensive. The amount of room for solar panels would be considerable too. That's a huge budget that it's not free and doesn't last long either.
