Today, Feb 1st, is Saint Brigid's day. Originally the pagan holiday of Imbolc to celebrate the start of spring, it changed to Saint Brigid's (Naomh Bríd) day to convert the pagans. She is one of the patron saints of Ireland along with Patrick and Columba.
