There are indeed immense risks of XR technology entering the mainstream in this totalitarian world. But like every technological product that has came before, it is a simply a tool to empower it’s user.
I don’t like having that much emf on my head and I’m sure we can work hard to further mitigate the risks but if we compare it to sitting with a mac book on your lap, there isn’t much difference. Every radio/microwave emitter and receiver is harmful and thus a problem that needs to be solved.
The UX however, has taken a significant step forward.
Imagine a floating IPhone that you control with your eyes and can rescale at your whim. Then imagine you can go inside the screen.
XR is the next evolution of display, not a matrix to entrap you in, that already exists.
