We do not scan the blockchain for payments, so if the transactions are not sent peer-to-peer we do not know if they have been received. We hope wallets will implement peer-to-peer capabilities soon. If that is not the case, we will need to re-evaluate.

Yes, that is correct. However, wallets only need to implement client-side of the specification. We redirect the payment in a peer-to-peer or legacy way depending on destination wallet capabilities.
