I ❤️ Rembrandt, this is a charcoal drawing i made after one of his portraits called 'Bearded Old Man, 1632' which is possibly Rembrandt's father, he was featured in a lot of his works as a 'tronie', a face meant as a study of expression, anonymous model.

After an artistic lull, it's good practise to warm up on something like a background or an area that can be filled in easily just to get the muscle memory back between the brush & brain. Starting on something complex can compound the lull & frustrate.
Jimi Hendrix sketch in oils.
Had some clear primed linen, glued it to a board and did this sketch over 2 play throughs of Electric Ladyland. Wanted to see how the clear linen works out vs normal primed linen.
Kinda cool with the raw background.

White paint is an absence of colour. Pigments absorb light & release light projecting the colours we see. To paint atmosphere & light, seek the subtle colours in everything & make them sense as light before using white.
"White Cat" - 8"x10" oil on linen
Black is an absence of colour. To paint deep blacks, use colour. Chromatic blacks have more depth. Two opposite colours can form black. Transparent red & Transparent blue cancel themselves, light is trapped, we sense 'black'.
"Warm" - 6"x8" oil on linen.
How good are dogs?
All they need to be happy is things to sniff and someone to pat them. For me they are one of the most relaxing subjects to paint.
This one is 8"x10" Oil on linen applied to an aluminium panel.
Hey Twetch!
Here's a new painting i recently finished, called 'Cat Portal'.
I liked the idea that if a portal existed, a cat would eventually poke it's head through out of curiosity.
Oil on Linen, 8" x 10".
I hope you like it!
