There was a time when we had to memorize phone numbers because there were no contacts apps. There was a time when we had answering machines that recorded messages on tape while we were away. I remember getting by just fine and with greater peace of mind.

Possible? Or likely? Who goes through the effort to attack a chain without seeking profit?
It was worse than that in my area just two days ago. The "haze" was so thick and hung so low you could see it being displaced by vehicles driving by. Lasted 2 days and was then followed by a thunder storm with heavy rain.
There are many wolves in sheep's clothing, but not all. There are many true priests who do not subscribe to the pharmakia or sorcery of these bad actors. In the old world, people trusted authority. In today's world, people need to educate themselves.

All rhetoric has its time and place. It's how it's used that determines its value. Paul, Jordan, Graham, Greene, etc. have done nothing but waste time. They put on a good show, but it is nothing more than that.

And I agree that much of what is being put forth by psychologists is pseudoscience at best. Only one Person can see into the depths of the human heart. It is the Son of God, in whose image we have all been made. The DSM has nothing on Him!
The beauty of language is that one can create words or phrases to better describe a particular phenomenon. The challenge with psychological categories is that they tend to put forth a description that is rather finite, which may not be fully accurate.

Narcissism is a growing epidemic. Social media is partly to blame, as is the overall vanity of modern society. At the heart of narcissism is low self-esteem and an insatiable desire for affirmation that Freud would describe as "anal retentive."
I'm not a fan of Freud, but the term "anal retentive" is succinct. It's the image of a toddler who, upon making his first contribution to the toilet, seeks praise from his mommy for not defecating on himself. Amusing, but also sad for a grown person.
