If they say "you're wasting your time", then put yourself 110% in it and keep up. If you want to do movies, you just need something to record videos. "I don't have the equipment, i don't have the contacts" is for spectators. Be an actor.

Everyone will told you to be the first, not to be happy. To be the first is for those who need a grade, who don't have self-confidence.
Aim to be happy, not to be the first 🙂

Paper & pen are the only remaining tangible things you may have, the only thoughts you can still own, for yourself. It can be lost, destroyed, burned, etc. That's why you will take care of it, more than anything.
Why write on paper & pen? Because paper is distractionless, nothing will popup, no tabs to read 1st, no slack, no twitter, NOTHING. You will face yourself for the 1st time and this is the only way to find out your true Vision. And it feels good 🙂
Defining your personal Vision:where am I going? What is my ultimate goal in life? What guides me to wake up every morning? Once you write that down on paper (yes, with an actual pen!), every single decision in your life should follow it. THAT is Vision. 🙂
🚀The beginning is to describe your personal Vision, Mission and Values. Once you do that, you'll be able to connect the dots.
