RecycleSV guide to crushing or flattening plastic bottles:
If your community uses single-stream recycling ”DO NOT CRUSH/FLATTEN”, the problem is flattened bottles can accidentally end.....

If you are doing your own recycling using RVM (return vending machines) or DRS (Deposit return schemes) in any country that uses them its best to keep the bottle whole and uncrushed as the machine needs to read the bottle barcodes to print your.....

Sorry my fren i can't speak on behalf of the NZ and Australia governments, sounds like they do not have the correct recycling facilities to process the waste they collect, so in turn sell for profit that you should have for doing their work.
