Masons used the hands shakes for centuries to establish to others that they were of the same group of workers. This allowed them to travel for work and stay at brother’s places out of town.

Mason’s have things like handshakes instead of hashes, but they work the same in that they reveal a Mason has be entrusted with a specific piece of information. $I know the 33rd degree’s secrets, but not the degree’s hash. A 33 degree mason didn’t tell me.
