It seems like development of new apps on BSV has slowed to a crawl. How come?

18LKok…e316 Key · twetch

Not really to be honest, with other cryptocurrencies you have one seed that you can use with any wallet and use your money in any way you want. At least with BSV transfers are instant, I'll give it that.

18LKok…e316 Key · twetch

No, I want it to be as easy to earn bitcoin as it is to spend it. You should only have to buy/convert currency if you absolutely have to.

18LKok…e316 Key · twetch

Yeah, faucets are kinda dumb unless there's actually useful ways to spend that small of an amount. I'm talking being able to earn enough in a day to be able to buy yourself a sandwhich or a game item or something along those lines.

18LKok…e316 Key · twetch

Well I think you should be able to use your money from any wallet you have/want. Including one that might come with your phone/computer/bank app or whatever. I think the state of wallet interoperability in BSV is abysmal right now to be frank.

18LKok…e316 Key · twetch

I don't think you should have to have multiple wallets and constantly send money between them to use bitcoin. That's a pretty big deterrent to adoption if you ask me. Nobody wants to have to do that.

18LKok…e316 Key · twetch

Yes but these institutions are definitely just looking to make a quick buck, there's no other utility in it for them. I think they see bitcoin as a way to make money off of ideological customers and nothing more. There's almost no point in custodial BTC.

18LKok…e316 Key · twetch

Yes, and I think 99% of people will see that and still not really care. You can't spend bitcoin anywhere, most people won't/can't earn BTC and if you do care about earning BTC why would you want to hold it in a bank account? Ideologues don't want that.

Calvin may be a broken record but in a way he's right. BSV's strategy is superior to BTC's in the long run. We have to allow scaling now to make it as friction-less as possible to spend, earn and develop on bitcoin. BTC "digital gold" is a dead end.

My grandma checks the value of money I gave her on handcash. She has no idea what the difference between BSV and BTC is. She just knows her bitcoin goes up and down. I think you're overestimating how much people know about or even care about tickers.

18LKok…e316 Key · twetch

Yeah while I see some value in paying miners in fiat I think @24 is right in that it's definitely more beneficial for bitcoin as a currency if the miners care more about earning and saving bitcoin, not USD or other fiat.

damn this is a bop too 👍

Sure it has better hashrate and more HODLers, but I remember when people were excited to be able to buy groceries with BTC. Now the narrative is that spending BTC is bad, HODLing good. All BSV has to do to win is move forward while BTC moves backwards.

18LKok…e316 Key · twetch

I know people say this all the time, but until there's something your average joe actually wants to do with crypto that they can't do with anything else, mainstream adoption of any crypto isn't happening. DeFi is a stupid fad IMHO, don't worry too much.

18LKok…e316 Key · twetch

BTC definitely hasn't "won" in any meaningful way, most normal people still don't care about anything going on in the crypto space. There's no compelling reason for most people to buy BTC, and most people who do have it don't use it or forget they have it.

Nothing could possibly make you more bullish on bitcoin than actually using it

18LKok…e316 Key · twetch

/pay @1959 $0.50 i thought this would be funny but it's unironically really good, thank you for posting this

18LKok…e316 Key · twetch

I wish bitcoin services and products were denominated in bitcoins or satoshis and not USD

18LKok…e316 Key · twetch

Unfortunately egifter is the only reputable one that I've seen.

About to take the second Comptia A+ exam. Wish me luck! 🙏

If a transaction is included in a block, it will always be part of the chain regardless of whether or not anybody is storing it. You can use the merkle tree to prove your tx data existed on the chain without needing to store the entire chain.

18LKok…e316 Key · twetch

I think people have been sold a false idea that "the chain" is this magical thing where you upload stuff and the data itself can never possibly go away. This is false, there's no guarantee miners or apps will hold on to your data forever.

BSV: own your data! immutable!

Also BSV: well you can still get censored and deplatformed from the apps that serve your data oh and if thats not bad enough your data can be deleted by the miners or become inaccessible unless you run your own full node 😅

BitCoin for president 2020 👍

How could this hypothetical system be sybil proof without proof of work or a potentially intrusive/unwanted identity system?

18LKok…e316 Key · twetch

You're absolutely right. Twetch will have to continuously polish and improve its product to keep ahead. They always seem to hint at having a new trick or two up their sleeve, so they can leap ahead while other apps are trying to catch up. We'll see.

18LKok…e316 Key · twetch

Woops. It CAN be very profitable. But the point is that it's not sybil proof, which defeats the purpose of it being a meaningful rating system.
