This doesn't mean I agree with everything said (and last couple days... maybe some bad takes) - I only mean that we're likely to see one-sided takedown attempts where he is denied the capacity to reach anyone to tell his side. I don't wish that on anyone.
Was thinking similar. So many lies and mis-directed outrage. Social shaming (and worse) of people who really don't deserve it is the worst. It breaks my heart. People can be so quick to judge based off of some little sound-bite. Counter-evidence is lost.
defeating the media's ability to spread propaganda has become an essential part of ensuring the survival of civilization.
Bitcoin might literally be our only bridge over the pit of anarchy.
31st May 2020: Rioting has started. It is very clearly ANTIFA.
Media tries to say it's white supremacists to stir racial tensions... I don't think many of those people even exist in the world. Never met one in my home country!
Remember it was ANTIFA...
ANTIFA...and other opportunistic low-lives along for the ride imo.
Media makes out like there's a white supremacist around every corner...I don't think very many of those people actually exist in the world tbh. It's the commies you've got to worry about!
So in summary:
- More acceptance of BSV and BSV alone worldwide = good idea
- More acceptance of all cryptos and shitcoins with some ideal about "they can compete" = not gonna help. Might actually hurt.
Just help BSV not those other shitcoins.
Even if it's only Kiwis that are the ones following this pattern (reduced fx activity before they travel for holidays) that's still going to strengthen the NZD not weaken it.
I think Steve's right on this one. Sorry deryk 😉
OTOH I could be onboard with your take (that it would accelerate the demise of NZD) if this freedom of choice were expanded in the other direction too... i.e. NZers can now also use USD to pay their taxes etc etc... USD is more dominant so is more useful
Two hypotheticals: 1) NZD accepted as payment everywhere in world vs 2) hardly anywhere at all (status quo)
The fact that most of those merchants don't hold it is more than made up for by the fact that many consumers DO hold NZD now on their travels
But in reality I think it has opened up an opportunity that there'd be at least a little bit of gained adoption because of NZD's relative increase in convenience.
I get what you're thinking. Okay - extreme case - 100% of merchants outside of NZ always sell every last penny of NZD. Then in that case, nothing lost, nothing gained.
Only diff is that the NZD to USD exchange occurs one hop later in the chain of txs
Price gouging is your friend in times of crisis. If you live in a price gouging area, the shelves will stay fuller as the local retailers can place competitive bids with the suppliers (and suppliers will work harder). If you outlaw it... you go without.
