We think of wine today as an alcoholic drink but in the past there wine was brewed for many reasons - mostly as a way to sterilise water to make it safe to drink. Babies were often nursed on a type wine and beer that hadn't been brewed into alcohol because there were beliefs mothers milk was toxic (which is why babies often died so young, this is documented in Mozarts letters in the late 1700's about his new born being fed this brew which of course, died).
There was low alcohol wine where the majority of alcohol is cooked out and there was higher alcohol wine to get drunk.
So Wine covered many different types of drinks.
Wine in regards to Jesus is referring to the 'blood of Christ'. The blood of Christ is the spirit. So when Jesus turns 'water into wine' he's turning the base spirit into the Christ spirit. He's not converting barrels of water into party wine, he's converting the gathering of souls into spirit. That is the miracle, changing minds - revolutionary.
When Jesus heals the blind so they can see again, he isn't re-arranging the DNA in their eyes and brain using Godly powers of magic so they can visually see, he's teaching them how to see God within because you may be blind outwardly but with the right teaching you can see God internally with perfect vision.
What is the greater miracle? Helping one blind person to see again or teaching humanity how to see properly?
