What I found was that nobody knew what the hell they were talking about.
In fact, I knew far more than they did thanks to my studies in economics.
That's when I got on Twitter and wrote this article:

That article directly addressed the complete and utter stupidity of the BTC approach at the time, and gave a framework to understand why fees acted as they did at the time.
It was my first direct investment in educating others about how this stuff works.
Fields the transaction did not carry are omitted. Open the payload to see the bytes as stored.

I used that as fuel to educate myself further, more deeply.
Eventually, I realized that I was one of the few people I'd ever encountered who had the right background knowledge and methodology to understand Bitcoin on a deep level, at least where the economics were concerned.
This isn't a boast, or to say I totally get Bitcoin. I still learn something new every day. Part of this was that I hadn't yet encountered those who were also capable of this. Now, I feel I'm in far better company.
For a time, I thought that I was in enough company, and that I could halt my public efforts.
See, I don't like being "popular," or being an "influencer" (not that I am either.) I don't want a ton of attention on me.
So, I got off Twitter for a bit.
I felt at one point that I was in enough company that I could step back and focus on myself, to get a little wiser, etc. and I wrote this article then went private on Twitter: https://www.yours.org/content/a-reflection-044c7e73f6d7
