For Lightning, it required P2SH (new opcode pay-to-script-hash) & SegWit (Segregated Witness) plus the addition of bypassing Bitcoin protocol validation checks, to allow native Bech32 addresses to sybil its own network with no solution for the multi travelling saleman problem.
