haha, but "pain to avoid them"? hmmmmmm... lets just make your solipsistic journey a bit more enjoyable and replace pain with please in your meme, lol.

typo onchain, replace pain with *pleasure
Hah, fair.
I’m just hinting that as folks see existential threats as real, over time it induces real pain in the brain, having a cyclical impact on their physical + mental well-being.
The manifestation of pain provides a visceral, more immediate, trigger.
I would generally agree with your statement there. "physical" or "manifested" (your choice) pain is certainly more readily noticed by most people (or entities, or projections, or simply humans)
Combined with the increasing lack of touch, this creates a non-physical feedback loop within the brain that manifests in physical aggression (as flight) in response to the pain (as fear).
It’s no surprise, then, that we see more and more of this sort of collective (especially male, since touch is more-stigmatized in males) aggression toward more and more existential threats.
Sticks + stones may break your bones but words will never hurt you

And then for some, pain IS the escape.
Acknowledgement is hard.
Self-awareness is hard.
Vulnerability is hard.
Change is hard.
The more we feel pain of existential threats, it’s possible we seek less physical touch, or the more we lose sight of the connection it has.
This is especially interesting to consider right now.
I try to embrace the dissonance, learn from the existential.
Defensive ideology is often huddled behind the angry chips on shoulders from reacting to existential threats.
Physical touch plays an important role, too. Without it, we lose sight of how much stress we hold in our bodies; negative nerve feedback.

The definition of happiness has always been a bit daunting. Pleasure is easier. Happiness however, I would veer towards defining it as Enduring Satisfaction.
Ackowledgment, SelfAwareness, Change, can however result in excitement, joy, satisfaction as well
