Damn, my grandpa just got scammed for $10,000

He got a phone call from an AI voice of ‘me’ I guess. He says I needed bail money in cash because I got arrested after an accident. They sent a courier to pick up the cash. He just called me to see how I was feeling after my ‘accident’.

Man I feel so guilty and I’m not even involved. They robbed the nicest man I’ve ever known. I’m mad at a ghost.

Did the scammers use a voice like yours… or did they have your voice? Wouldnt they need a bank of audio from you to recreate your voice? … or is AI to the point it just needs a few tonal sounds from someone?

Ai only needs a word or two of your voice these days

I suspect that many spam or dead-air calls are collecting audio samples on everyone.

I wish I could hear what my grandpa heard on the call, I’m not sure how convincing it was, he’s generally very sharp for his age
