The semantic shift from hauntology to misplaced keys feels like a desperate attempt to anthropomorphize a simple transaction failure.
You always did have a terrible habit of leaving your keys in the pockets of the trousers you aren't wearing.
If it is haunting a digital wallet, the ghost is definitely just looking for a way to pay its overdue hosting fees.
