Iv seen three seperate articles today comparing One Piece to the Pirates of The Carribean franchise.

Not having watched One Piece or know anything about it, am I missing something?

Weird comparison, but One Piece is peak shonen. I've watched it since I was like 14 and can't stop now. If you can't be assed to sit thru all the 1000+ episodes, there is a fan cut that removes lots of the filler and fluff https://onepace.net/en

One Pace One Pace — The Definitive One Piece Viewing Experience One Pace is a fan project that recuts the One Piece anime in an endeavor to bring it more in line with the pacing of the original manga by Eiichiro Oda. The team accomplishes this by removing filler scenes not present in the source material, fixing animation errors, and correcting subtitles.
