in music at least, fame is a very small part of the equation. for every 'artist' ie frontman/woman there are a dozen musicians/producers/writers who are all craft. you'll never know about the craftsmen but they're the ones behind all the million dollar productions.

so when it comes to fame vs success, a musician has to choose whether they want to be a celebrity or be a craftsmen, simple as. work at your craft, be good at it, and success is a given. of course today's industry is a bit wonky, but that's why we have @76355 : )
