Yes, so you're attached to your ideas being preserved, not lost. You are seeking to protect your ideas.
That is materialistic.

That is materialistic.
But more importantly, and conclusively, you seem to think that non-materialists don't live in the material world.
We do. We interact with it all the time.
The only think that differentiates us from a materialist is thatcwe think there are more dimensions to our human existence than just the material one.
Now big hug.

1GwecezoL8jciHU2Ysyupxrnv18JMGAV6R UnverifiedSure, and I'm saying, we have no guarantees there are more dimensions, so to operate without some level of materialism (i.e. storing good ideas for future generations), just in case, is delusional.
You think you know for sure there are other dimensions. I'm saying that's possible, and the opposite is also possible. It's not knowable to any of us.
Therefore I store my ideas on chain in the hopes that it might benefit future generations. Regardless of if there are other dimensions to reality or not.
Would you agree @6345 that "Storing ideas for future generations to potentially benefit from" is "The best possible form of materialism"? "Benevolent materialism"?
Not "I want a legacy, I want to live forever in human culture", but "I want my ideas to reduce the suffering of others in the future, regardless of credit"?
"Just in case it matters."
I'm sorry I called you a materialist.
I guess you were raving about religion or how death is so terrible that we need to trust our rulers because they know best and are just saving us from certain death.
Now I know you are an agnostic. I think that's great.
Gotta go pray.
Will send love.
I am 100% agnostic. I don't know if there's a God or not. I believe, genuinely believe, that if there IS a God, it's infinitely better than certain popular representations of God today.
I do not believe it would send anything to hell. I do not believe hell exists.
That makes it literally infinitely better than any God which would do such a thing. Because hell is infinite suffering (and worse yet, for finite "crimes" [which ultimately that God forced you to commit, because free will doesn't exist here]).
Regardless of if there is a God or not, I want to see conscious entities here suffer less. Now and in the future. Because I know what suffering feels like.
I don't know if it matters or not - I cannot possibly say. But there is a chance it matters.
Therein, am I materialistic.
I also don't know if it matters whether we all survive or if everyone dies here.
Maybe it doesn't matter. Maybe it does.
Given that I cannot know - I am obliged to become utilitarian to some degree, same as the rulers were.
Maybe they don't know whether it matters either.
Maybe they are faced with the constant question: "Try to preserve consciousness or let it all burn", and their answer is "We cannot know for sure whether it matters, so we should preserve it".
Maybe this means killing sometimes to protect the whole.
This is why I said it's not black and white. There's a lot of nuance here, I've spent years thinking about all of it.
This is why I say I'd rather kill 1 million jihadis than let them win and potentially everyone dies. Suck to be them that they were born into bad ideas. It's just luck of the draw here.
I don't know whether it matters or not, probably nobody does.
Obviously, if God exists, it created the circumstances wherein we would be forced to kill or lose everything and everyone.
What are we supposed to do? Lay down and die, and hope that it was the correct decision, with ultimately no guarantees either way?
