I think now i know the origin of the saying "getting cocky". Yesterday in neighbor's place i saw a tamed cat meet a big cock. they become interested and approaching each other, then they stand-still looking each other in the eyes for about 1 minutes,,,

,,,gauging each other. After that, the big cock (thinking he is stronger or superior) walk-circling the cat while looking intensely on the cat. The cat just standing still on its position.

Then i thought: That look on the cock's face and its action describe PRECISELY what the term 'getting cocky' means. I wish i brought my phone to take a photo or 3mins video of that cock actions, a picture worth a thousand words.
