2 weeks in - I've ditched the bed, carpet , throw - duvet cover , ............using the old head board with some standoffs for my head with an additional pillow . no going back.

reasons : bad back + sleep apnea , always crush these modern lightweight pillows and my chest crushes my neck.

apparently a soft mattress leads to a stiff body & a hard surface manipulates / pummels you - relaxing muscles.

secondary bonus this is the floor, as adults we lose touch with the floor it's just a place you look down at.

if you wouldn't ever sleep on the floor , take an hour off the sofa in an evening and sit on the floor..

Must admit it's my second attempt, I tried it a couple of months ago, and I think 3rd day got sick (unrelated) and crawled back in bed. it's a bit of a shock to the system for sure, so it's probably better to test the waters with some sessions to start the adapting phase rather than burn the bed like I did 😆

Keep doing it for like 2+ weeks and then try go back into a bed again.

I've been sleeping on the floor for just shy of three years now. The first few nights were not fun kept waking up multiple times during the night to adjust because my shoulders etc were in pain. However despite the multiple wakes I still managed to feel very well rested the next day.

After a few weeks I didn't have the same pain to need to readjust, I kinda just melted into the ground compared to being stiff and unwilling to truly relax into the sleep. When I did try to sleep in a bed a few months in I woke up the next day and just didn't feel right, so have slept on the ground ever since. Its an absolute win.

That being said, I still do't really know what I want for my head, I often have a soft pillow, but have also tried with no pillow, I don't have any firm opinions on that sort of thing, but know that I will never go back to a bed.

interesting , a floor veteran ☺️👍.......hmmm modern pillows are like a sack of air so my neck always feels like it's holding my heads up, maybe I need something hardcore 👇
