The only reason it seems confusing is that people get conditioned to believe in "Electrons Flowing" instead of "Electrical System Pressure".

They ask: "So the electrons from from anode to cathode or cathode to anode?" That conditioning confuses people.

It makes ALOT more sense to think of it in terms of Ordinality between "Compaction" and "Rarefaction".

The same as all other pressure carrying systems: High Pressure normalizes into low pressure. Low pressure does not displace high pressure.

Consider this for a moment: "When you charge your drill battery, you are creating an electrolytic imbalance BELOW GROUND STATE."

A "charging" in modern terms thus produces a NET NEGATIVE CHARGE in the battery carriage relative to ground.

∴ "Charging a Battery consists of increasing its net negative carriage" thus by definition: "Discharging the Cell".

No wonder people get confused, when "Charging is defined as Discharging" you are bound to create a field of confusion.

Now, to make it even worse, when you USE the drill, discharging the net negative, you increase the Local Positive Charge UP to the ground state.

In other words: The battery charges when being used, and discharges when being charged.
