How do you "own" anything that is on a public blockchain?
It is basically in the public domain,
If you encrypt it
only the hash and timestamp becomes relevant really
If you cannot pick up your ball
and take it home so nobody else can play with it
is it really your ball ?

This is a bad analogy.
The ball is only yours if you are in a system which rules allow you to do that, meaning that it will punish those who try to violate them, or you are the strongest person in the field.
